Global Immersion Programme

The Global Immersion Programme (GIP) at VMRF, coordinated by the Office of International Relations (OIR), provides students with short-term academic experiences at leading partner universities and institutions worldwide — offering exposure to international learning environments, advanced research facilities, industry best practices, and diverse cultures.

Through Vinayaka Mission's Sankarachariyar Dental College, VMRF facilitated a two-week Global Immersion Programme at MAHSA University, Malaysia, from 13–26 April 2026. Nine students and two faculty members took part, engaging in interactive lectures, hands-on clinical demonstrations in Endodontics, Laser Dentistry, and Conscious Sedation, and exposure to advanced technologies including CBCT applications and intraoral scanners. The programme also included clinical observation sessions, research methodology workshops, and cultural and team-building activities alongside a campus tour and city exploration.

Internships

The International Internship Programme, coordinated by the Office of International Relations (OIR), is now open to VMRF students seeking international research, academic, and professional experience at partner universities, research institutions, healthcare organizations, and industry partners worldwide. The programme guidelines, eligibility criteria, and application process are outlined below for the first cohort of applicants.

Internship Guidelines

The process for securing an international internship through VMRF follows a structured, collaborative approach:

1. Initiation of Request — OIR contacts reputed industries, research institutions, healthcare organizations, and global partners to confirm available internship opportunities.
2. Student Profile Submission — interested students submit request letters, CV, and areas of interest to OIR, which shares these with prospective host organizations.
3. Confirmation of Internship Opportunities — host organizations confirm available positions and duration. Students who secure internships independently must submit official confirmation to OIR through their department.
4. Allocation of Internship Positions — OIR allocates students to organizations based on confirmed availability and academic/professional fit.
5. Joining Formalities — students submit a Joining Report, Acceptance Letter, or confirmation email at the start of the internship.
6. Mid-Term Evaluation — progress reviews, presentations, or feedback reports as required by the host institution and VMRF.
7. Completion & Reporting — students submit a comprehensive Internship Report along with the official Internship/Training Certificate.

This monitored process ensures VMRF students receive high-quality, internationally recognized internship experiences that support their academic and professional growth.

Clean academic record with no active backlogs.

Undergraduate students from second year onward; postgraduate students from first year onward.

CGPA of 7.0 or above.

Duration: 1–6 months.

Semester Abroad Programme (SAP)

The Semester Abroad Programme (SAP) at VMRF, coordinated by the Office of International Relations (OIR), enables students to pursue a semester of study at internationally reputed partner universities under established academic collaborations — including our active partnership with INTI International University, Malaysia, where VMRF students are currently on exchange as part of the May–August 2026 sessions.

As part of SAP, eligible students may enroll in courses, research projects, clinical training, or other academic activities at the host university for one semester or an academic year. Upon successful completion, credits earned are evaluated and transferred in accordance with the approved credit equivalence framework, and students return to VMRF to continue their degree programme.

Who Can Apply?

Undergraduate and postgraduate students in any faculty at VMRF may apply for SAP, provided they meet eligibility requirements aligned with the partner institutions' admission criteria. Students are encouraged to apply after two years of undergraduate study or one year of postgraduate study, once they have adequate foundational knowledge in their field.

Eligible students apply through OIR by submitting the prescribed application form with supporting documents.

Eligibility and Other Requirements

CGPA of 7.0 or above.

No active backlogs or history of reappearances.

Valid passport (minimum six months' validity).

Offer/Acceptance Letter from the partner institution.

English proficiency test (if required by host institution).

Sufficient financial resources for visa, travel, accommodation, and living expenses.

Financial ability to support travel and living expenses.

Selection Procedure

1. OIR conducts an orientation session introducing SAP and available opportunities.
2. Interested students register with OIR, submitting the application form and supporting documents by the deadline.
3. Eligible applicants attend a one-to-one counselling session and interview with the OIR Selection Committee.
4. Shortlisted students complete declarations and submit academic/administrative documents before nomination.
5. Students selected for scholarships may attend an additional interview as required by the sponsoring organization or partner institution.

VMRF welcomes international students and faculty to its campuses through reciprocal exchange arrangements with partner universities across the globe. These programmes are designed to create genuine two-way engagement — allowing visiting students and faculty to take part in academic sessions, industry interactions, and cultural experiences alongside their VMRF counterparts, rather than mobility flowing in one direction alone.

A student enrolled in the ITP studies at VMRF-DU (Deemed to be University) for an initial two years, then completes the remaining years — 3rd and 4th year (4-year programmes), 3rd year (3-year programmes), or 2nd year (2-year programmes) — at the international partner university, which awards the final degree.

Under ITP, credits earned at VMRF-DU are transferred to the host university through an approved conversion procedure and count toward subsequent semesters and the final degree at the host university.
